South of Nowhere RECAP/REVIEW: 2x01 & 2x02
The Good:
- Our 1st OTP on this show (Spencer/Ashley) totally had sex last night. Spencer woke up with tea or coffee or something cute like that. And it was beautiful. Everything is beautiful.
- Glen tore his ACL. Why is this under good? Because fuck Glen.
- Chelsea is showing her art off in a gallery! Our other OTP is suceeding!
- Cinematography for this show got a hell of a lot better between the first and second seasons. Goodbye, home video filming! Goodbye, mics in shots!
The So Bad It's Good:
- Listen. Cheating on people is wrong in real life. It hurts everyone involved in some way. However, in fictional worlds, it's a good drama-starter. So after that disclaimer, I'm going to say it. I'm glad the mom is cheating on the dad. It makes her interesting.
- I also like the rebellious Spencer. You go, girl! Go kiss Ashley! Lie to your mom about it! Fuck your mom!
- The scene where Spencer and Ashley hang out with Ashley's dad. It was kind of cheesy, but there's some emotional stuff there.
- "I don't know, I try to suppress my life's most disappointing moments." DAMN. Ashley's mom has won the shade crown for the episode.
- Ashley's dad has a daughter. This is going to be a lot of drama. Hilarious drama. And they have to share inheritance.
The Just Awful:
- When the hell did Madison and Aiden get back together? I don't even remember this. Probably because I block out awful things I don't want to remember.
- Aiden the ultimate fuckboy and Ashley almost kissed. What the fuck.
- Okay, this isn't 'awful', per say, but I hate the music in this show. It just doesn't blend right with the scenes. And they overdid it with the music this episode. This isn't a cheesy YouTube fan video. Chill.
- Madison still doesn't have a personality other than Bitch. No depth. Very flat and boring other than the occasional punchline. The only thing that gave her any sort of redeemable personality traits is when she said sorry about the following...
- ASHLEY'S DAD DYING. WHAT THE FUCK. ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?
The ridiculousness of this show is the reason you know that it's a teen show.
